Kennels are open from 9:00 – 10:00 Monday to Friday. (Also appointment times can be arranged with a member of Dog Control)

All dogs from the pound cost £20 plus license fee, which costs £12.50, £5.00 if dog is neutered or you are on benefits, also if over 65 years old you get one free. HOME CHECKS MAYBE CARRIED OUT BY OFFICERS FROM THIS DEPARTMENT


The pound contains 10 pens, which are block built with galvanised dog runs with fresh water drinking systems. The Council’s Dog Control Service responds to calls from members of the public to collect stray dogs within the District and impound them in the Pound, the service is also used to handle owners requests for residents who no longer want the dog (fees apply).

Where we can re-home a suitable stray, unclaimed or unwanted dog we make every effort to find them a home where they will be cared for. We work with local animal charities to help us with this task. Details of all dogs available for re-homing can be found on our facebook page
